A Lonsdale butcher’s shop is celebrating UK Sausage Week (running from 30th October to 5th November) by giving away free samples and making donations to its local girl guiding group.

Dales Traditional Butchers, in Kirkby, will be donating 50p from every KG of sausages it sells to the Girl Guides.

Throughout the week, the butchers will also be offering samples of its award-winning sausages from across the years. It will also be giving away two sausage hampers to two lucky customers who ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ the company’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/DalesTraditionalButchers).

Master Butcher Mark Duckworth explained: “I did a little project with our local Girl Guides during Butchers Week. The event went very well and they came up with a beef, cheese and chive sausage as their favourite sausage.

“I said I would enter the sausage into the best available sausage competition – and that was of course the UK Sausage Week awards. I’m sure they will look forward to hearing how it has performed when the winners are announced on 30th October.”

These include: Pork Duck Orange and Cointreau, Beef Sausage, Lamb and Apricot, Pork and Caramel, Pork and Haggis, Pork Sausage, Beef and Marmite, Pork and Caramel, Pork Honey and Mustard and Pork Sausage.
