As part of ongoing 2019 UK Sausage Week celebrations, this year’s UK Supreme Sausage Champion sausage was served during a drinks reception as canapés today [November 1st] before a very special Worshipful Company of Butchers (WCB) Court Lunch. The event took place at the newly refurbished Butchers’ Hall, attended by HRH The Princess Royal.
A former Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, HRH The Princes Royal attended the Court Lunch to unveil a commemorative plaque, officially re-opening the building.
Morgan’s Country Butchers supplied the canapé sausages for the occasion, having been named UK Supreme Sausage Champion at the recent UK Sausage Week (UKSW) celebration lunch on Monday 28th October, which marked the start of UKSW.
The family business’s winning banger is its Traditional Shropshire Pork Sausage based on a popular 30-year old recipe by Darren Morgan.
Master of The Worshipful Company of Butchers, Tim Dumenil, commented: “It’s been a very proud week. Having attended the UK Sausage Week Awards lunch here at our hall on Monday and then having Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal attend today to officially open the refurbished building, it has all been very special. We have enjoyed some super sausage canapés made by the winning butcher before lunch too. I’d call the whole week a sizzling success!”
UK Sausage Week continues through until 3rd November, with further events and celebrations expected to take place over the coming weekend and considerable coverage resulting through national and local media.
